Bulldog continued
I am continuing my bulldog painting.
I am working on the eyes a little and a shadow on the body area.
I removed the gum from the eye reflection and and changed the spot on the right side.
Darkening the darks all over.
I put in a blue gray background.
This basically the finished piece. I am going to look at it for a few days and maybe add a couple touches here and there. I will have a print ready next week. Leave a comment if you want. Ask questions if you want to know more.

Bulldog painting
I wanted to show the progression for a painting of a Bulldog. I think I am about half way done with the painting so there will be more to come as I finish it up. This is in watercolor. The first step is a rough drawing. Then I drew it again and refined it a little. I added a dab of masking fluid for the reflection in the eye and started washing over with a little yellow ocher and raw sienna. I did a lot of modeling with pencil and I am slowly going to build up the darks and make those wrinkles pop. bulldogs have spots so I have to figure out that as I go.
Rough sketch above and the tight pencil on watercolor paper below.
First wash.
darkening up, starting to figure out the spots.
deepening the wrinkles with light browns.
Jumping into some darker darks.
I have to stop for now. Getting some darks in is getting me excited to keep going. Check back.

Etchings
Here are a few pictures from my studio as I am printing some etchings. I want a bigger studio and a bigger press but I make it happen with what I have.
I use a guide that I print with my laser printer for registration. Since the paper has to be wet other things will transfer but laser printed lines will not. I love simple solutions like that.
Here you see the paper after it has gone through the press.
And the finished print hanging up.

Splashing in Oregon
I just released a new print. This one is inspired by by my son and his red rain suit. He and I have been going hiking at Dorris Ranch since he was very little. Dorris Ranch is a unique city park that is a working filbert farm. It is quite large and you walk down to the edge of the Willamette River. It is flat hike so nice for little ones.
