Splashing in Oregon

I just released a new print. This one is inspired by by my son and his red rain suit. He and I have been going hiking at Dorris Ranch since he was very little. Dorris Ranch is a unique city park that is a working filbert farm. It is quite large and you walk down to the edge of the Willamette River. It is flat hike so nice for little ones.

Last day of watercolor class

Today was the last day of my beginning watercolor class at Petersen Barn in Eugene. This is the demo I did. The class will start up again January 9, 2013.

In the beginning class I usually have a project ready to go. Students come with their own painting equipment and start painting. If you are brand new to painting there are some materials available to get started on the first day. I can help you figure out what to buy.

In Advanced class students are more self directed but I always have some projects ready in case you are uninspired. I do demonstrations and work one on one.

Join us for an oil painting demonstration with talented artist John Holdway. John will begin his discussion with under-painting techniques and how to choose pigments and mediums. John's main focus will be on layering methods and mastering control of opacity and transparency within your oil painting. John is a proponent of depicting realism, however, the techniques he'll use could be applied to a variety of other painting styles. Many oil painters have moved to non-toxic materials and methods and John will speak to these as well.
