To get ideas I just start doing these little scribbles. I am starting to look for something to develop. I am searching for the thing that will light the fire. The idea is the most important thing. I know what to do when the idea comes.
Hi John, I like your idea of multiple sketches. When I get something on the page, I just go with it, no matter what I put down--this is sort of the same idea, but I use less steps. I do see the advantage of having multiple sketches though--more ideas and more time clearing the mind to let the art come through. Thanks for sharing your way, which I will try. Jean

Thanks Jean! It's not really my idea. I guess artists have used it for hundreds of years.
